This sencha is classified as Sencha Superior and is from the first harvest of the year (Ichiban Cha). We have imported it directly from our producer in Kyoto, Japan. It has an elegant and sweet vegetal taste.
The leaves are rolled and look like thin needles. During brewing, they will open up and extract flavor and color to the brew. The mixture consists of both whole leaves and broken leaves, which gives a powerful flavor.
The leaves can be brewed several times.
Harvested in spring 2024.
Sencha is the most popular type of tea in Japan. The production is perfected to preserve the nutrients and green color of the tea leaves. Sencha is grown in full sunlight and therefore has a high content of catechins. You can read about the reason why it is good here: Tea and its health benefits
Sencha is more vegetal in taste than traditional Chinese green tea and a cup of sencha contains more nutrients. Sencha can be harvested four times during the year, but the quality decreases with each harvest. The best quality is obtained from the first harvest of the year because then the plant has stood for a whole winter and acquired good properties from the soil.
Organic green tea
An organic product is produced in a way that takes the environment into account by not using chemical and synthetic pesticides. It's good for the planet, but also for the tea, the farmer and you. By buying organic teas, you support healthy and long-term tea production.
NO-ØKO-01
We are proud to be the largest Norwegian brand importer of organic tea. To be approved by Debio and use the definition Organic, not only must the ingredients be certified organic, but our own plant must also be certified by Debio and controlled by Mattsilynet.
In addition to import controls from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, we go beyond the requirements by also taking random samples for pesticides/pesticides and other pollutants.
It is important that tea is stored protected from air and light. That's why we sell all our teas packed in tight aluminum bags with a zip lock.
